This season was a huge success for the club. It proved to be a challenging one both on and off the pitch. There were many highs and many lows. Overall though, it’s safe to say that the good definitely outweighed the bad. Without further ado let's dive into this review!
SOB FC (11-5):
Our first team Sewell Old Boys FC had a great regular season going 8-2 in the league. The team racked up a lot of goals, and conceded very little. While everything seemed comfortable at first, there were some problems that arose midway through the season. We found ourselves having a lack of confidence on the big stage. Whether it was the knockout rounds of the cup’s, or our two battles with eventual league winner FPA majors, we could just never seem to get ourselves over the line. Many in and around the club believed us to be cursed on the big stage. However, this belief was put to rest on the final day of the season when we beat Philadelphia Sierra Stars 2-1 in the promotion playoff final. This result was the pinnacle of our season, and is the reason we will be playing in casa select liga 1 this fall!
Casa select liga 2: 2nd place
Palangi cup: 2nd round
Contenders cup: Quarter final
Promotion playoff: Winner
SOB FC II (5-4-1):
Our newly formed second team Sewell Old Boys FC II had a league campaign with a lot of mixed results. The boys really struggled to get going this season. Everytime it seemed like our fortunes would turn around, we’d experience another set back. Although we were mathematically in and around the mix of the top teams until the end, with the amount of losses we had the league was lost much earlier in the season. Inconsistent results and performances is what saw us miss out on the promotion playoffs and caused us to finish in 6th place. It’ll be crucial to regroup this summer, so we can get back on track to earn promotion this fall!
Casa Quinto division: 6th place
End of the season awards:
SOB FC Player of the Season: Shane Baker

SOB FC’s Player of the season is our very own Shane Baker. Shane was an anchor in both defense and midfield this season. Although his usual position is in the center of the park, due to certain circumstances he found himself in the heart of the defense for the majority of this season. Baker’s unfamiliarity with the center back role didn’t even phase him. He still continued to shine with many defensive masterclasses. Baker also contributed heavily to the attack with 2 goals and 4 assists. He also picked up 2 man of the match awards over the course of the season.
SOB FC II Player of the Season: Bugra Kumas

SOB FC II’s player of the season is none other than Bugra Kumas. Bugra played roles in defensive midfield along with outside back throughout the season. Kumas was a game changer in most of our games. His composure on the ball was the solution to many of our problems in possession this season. Kumas had 3 assists on the season, and also had a very notable man of the match performance in his first team call up match against PSC II.
Golden Boot: Ahsan Johnson/Fred Renzulli

The golden boot award will be given to both Ahsan Johnson and Fred Renzulli. The forward Johnson and midfielder Renzulli both reached 9 goals this season, and were integral to our attack this season. Both players hit the back of the net in some huge games, and both came up big all season.
Playmaker award: Mike Donaghy

Our playmaker of the season award will go to Mike Donaghy. Mike showed serious class in attacking areas all season. His chance creation was second to none. Donaghy was our lead assistor with 7 assists.
